What is Krav Maga Defense System?

Krav Maga is a fighting system that originates from Israel. In the 1930s a Hungarian Israeli man named, Imi Lichtenfeld used his experience in boxing and wrestling and began to constructing a fighting style around those roots while taking influence from many other martial arts that were in existence as well.

Krav Maga philosophy is based around the idea of neutralizing any threats in a fighting situation. There is heavy concentration on counter attacks and finishing opponents in the most efficient, brutal manners possible. This is the best real world style of martial art out there since it was formulated for use in real world techniques, not designed to look pretty, use in competition or have style. It was made to survive, deal damage, and stay alive.

Defence Against Weapons

Krav Maga is amazing because it doesn’t just train people for hand to hand combat. It takes into consideration the idea that often times an attacker may have a gun or knife. You’re thinking, “Punches and kicks vs a gun? Yeah, OK”, well you clearly haven’t seen Krav Maga.

Defending Against Grabs and Holds

Often times in combat the fight will be taken close quarters. People tend to grab and attempt take downs when a fight is getting serious. Krav Maga realizes this and makes the best effort to train to get out of any hold or grab possible. With some roots of Jiu Jitsu, getting out of hand holds, throws and grabs is one of the main tenets of Krav Maga.

Taking Attackers Out Quickly

In Krav Maga you train to defend and get away from multiple attackers because in real life the person attacking you probably has a friend. There are no rules on the street and getting taken to the ground gives your attacker’s friend a chance to kick you in the head.  To end a fight quickly and neutralize attackers Krav Maga teaches you to viciously attack vital areas like eyes, genitals and nose.

  • Elbow Strikes

All of those use multiple muscle groups and are incorporated into every move you’ll learn in the class.  Most classes are setup to have you attack kicking bags and shields for warming up.  There is nothing more relaxing than getting your day’s frustrations out on a kicking bag.
